A graduate of the Clinical Biochemistry program at the University of Sonora, I began my research journey in the field of protein chemistry and its applications. I later earned my Master’s and PhD in Biochemical Sciences from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where I delved into the field of neuroscience, focusing on studying neuronal populations involved in the control of compulsive behaviors. As a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles, I am dedicated to characterizing the brain circuits responsible for decision-making processes. My primary goal is to contribute to understanding how the brain integrates signals from various systems to enable adaptive decision-making and how this function is affected in different psychiatric disorders.
Throughout my academic career, I have had the opportunity to participate in and organize science communication events. Among my recent projects is organizing Pint of Science - Los Angeles, a three-day festival held in restaurants and bars where PhD students and postdoctoral researchers share the results and societal impact of their work. For me, Brainbeats represents a much-needed platform in today’s world—one that provides an accessible perspective on the latest advances in neuroscience through the eyes of experts in the field, always backed by verified information.
